I have been involved in education for all of my life. I attended Kalamazoo Public Schools from kindergarten through high school and in my summers, during my middle school and high school years, I volunteered and then eventually became employed as a paraprofessional in Kalamazoo Public Schools Bilingual/Migrant Summer School Program. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI in 2009 with a B.A. in English and with a certificate in Elementary Education (all subjects K-5 and in language arts grades 6-8) and a minor in dance.
In 2010 I began working as a kindergarten teacher at Kalamazoo Public Schools and put my passion for teaching to use! But I found my true calling at San Juan Diego Academy in 2014 where I got to infuse my faith with my dedication towards teaching. I feel at home as I spend my days educating young Latino children in kindergarten and help them grow, as I continue to grow, in their Catholic beliefs.
As I continue to cultivate my knowledge in the field of education I participate in graduate classes in literacy studies, using my degree in English and my lifelong love of reading and writing, I share with my students the beauty and importance of literature. I know that students who excel in these areas go far in life, and it is my mission to help each student see their own unique, academic potential as well as realize their responsibility to be a positive influence in the community. Students who pass through my classroom doors will learn to apply academic skills in their own lives and demonstrate cooperation and positive behavior as they work together and culminate into compassionate human beings.
Afterschool I teach dance and am so blessed by the joy of dancing with these young students.
