For over 150 years, Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids have educated the children of immigrants, helping them as they struggle to start a new life. San Juan Diego Academy carries on this tradition by serving the educational needs of underserved children who live in some of our city’s most impoverished neighborhoods. In a society where they are often met with hostility and prejudice, our school is often one of the few places where these newcomers feel a sense of welcome, dignity, community, and connection.
Established in 2010, San Juan Diego Academy is an inter-parochial K-8 Catholic school. The school was built on the grounds of the Holy Name of Jesus parish, situated on the border between the cities of Grand Rapids and Wyoming.
The school is supported by six Catholic parishes that serve a large and growing number of families. San Juan Diego is the only remaining urban Catholic school in the West Michigan community. Our mission is to partner with family, parish, and the greater community to educate, mentor and inspire underserved children to achieve academic excellence and live their Catholic faith.
