San Juan Diego Academy is a K-8 Catholic school established in 2010. Educating Latino children in the Grand Rapids and Wyoming Area. The school serves nearly 200 students with the capacity of 225.
SJDA students are children of immigrants. They come from families where little to no English is spoken in the home and income can hover below $19,000. Despite these barriers, SJDA students consistently out-perform both charter and public schools on standardized proficiency exams. Such stellar performance is achieved through an international approach to the education of first and second-generation immigrant children.
At San Juan Diego Academy, Latino customs are valued and celebrated providing parents with the cultural security they seek while settling in a new land. At the same time, their children are held to the highest academic and spiritual standards and encourage, daily, to prepare for college. This whole family approach inspires students and parents to make education a priority in their lives.
