San Juan Diego Academy students learned about how they could help save the Great Lakes through a presentation by the Sooper Yoopers. Mark Newman, author, and Mark Heckman, artist, created a book and program that features ordinary people, like scientists, with "super" powers to help save our precious water supply. Mr. Newman particularly focused on invasive species and much to the delight of our younger students, many of them, like Sea Lamprey, are downright "icky". He brought many samples and sl ides of the various creatures that are threatening our food chains of the Great Lakes. It was very informative and entertaining. The school will be getting the books also. A BIG thank you to the Wege Foundation for underwriting this program so students can learn about helping preserve Michigan's natural resources for all of us and future generations.
